accidentally stepped on foot after bunion surgery

over the past several days ive felt my foot healing as far as pain goes, the pain wednesday morning had subsided and i didnt feel the need to use my pain meds any morehowever about 2 hours ago i lost balance on my crutches and i completely stepped on my right foot (with boot) with all my weight about 2 times rather quickly before my bf caught me luckily he was near by. To ensure successful bunion surgery recovery: A surgical operation to cut a bone is called an osteotomy. I can still wiggle my toes and slightly move my ankle. Im now 10 days post op from the second repair. I pressed my doc for a PT referral which he did, and first PT session is this Friday. 3 weeks post op, completely ruptured my Achilles. How did it turn out ? This was certainly a relief to find this forum but I am a little concerned. He did use a flat stone with muscle cream and worked the tendon and scar tissue. I just got the walking boot on September 21. Im relieved to read someones experience at least not ending negatively. Will be calling the doctor when we get back home. Going faster than I should have, tripped, landed HARD on the air cast. Its not constant. A bit worried, and wondering if I should call the doc or wait a few day till the 6th. Im really thankful I found this blog. After that hubby banned me from crutches so I got good at maneuvering all over the house, up and down small steps and our staircase, on my knee scooter. Im a little worried I did some damage or worse re-tore the Achilles. No complications with my first surgery, but I was going into it super fit and flexible. Am now 4 weeks post surgery. I am seeing my doctor in a few days but I am terribly worried that I screwed the whole thing up. Any update? About 8 days post repair of a full Achilles tear, my crutch sipped and I caught myself with the injured foot (in a splint, not a hard cast). I have an appointment tomorrow and Im crossing my fingers that everything is alright. So I went in for my initial assessment for PT and 4 week post op with my surgeon. Its always good to get a hold of your doc in cases like this. I was in immense pain and agony and it felt like a ripping and tingling sensation, and the paranoid side of me was thinking I pray to god I didnt just re-tear my achilles after all my progress! I had to wait 2 days to see my doctor as I was getting ready to be placed in a boot and the anxiety ate me alive lol. The surgeon will then correct the big toe joint using screws or pins. There are multiple techniques, but all involve cutting the bones and repositioning them with metal screws to straighten the big toe and reduce the bump on the side of the foot. Stumbled this evening and put full weight on nwb leg. I guess I figured there will be some pain and aches along this recovery. I was told not to worry and I had recently been give permission to apply weight to heel of foot but no walking . no x-ray's for me. Rob, I agree with Rick - lots of people experience a little slip during that period and its scary to think you might have screwed up (I had the same experience). I was able to see my surgeon at noon, after many nervous minutes and concern on his part, he was able to confirm that the Achilles was still continuous, and attached. There is no need to worry about your recovery well make sure everything goes smoothly and that you dont experience any problems with bunion surgery screws. As far as I know there are no metal pieces in my foot. But I think it is why my foot has healed so quickly and without pain or complications. I thought all that work healing, elevating, icing, for nothing! I was recommended to only put 25% of my weight on it and to not to walk on it yet , as my physical therapy should begin next week . People mostly do it that arent taking recovery slowly and seriously. The tendon still appears to be intact, though I do have what appears to be a marble-sized knot on the tendon right below the bottom of the surgical incision. These are nice and wide so there is no pressure through the foot, and often have a special wedge under the heel to help you not to put any weight through the front of your foot during the initial phase of bunion surgery recovery.
